Easter Raffle - 2016
Dear parents and friends of St. John the Baptist School,
February 23, 2016
You will certainly be aware that St. John the Baptist School is not self-supporting. The school fees do not cover the cost of running the school, and we are dependent upon the parishioners of Our Lady of Sorrows, and our faithful benefactors throughout the world to keep us going.
As is the case for all non-for-profit and charitable organizations, fundraisers are a necessity and a part of our efforts to make our school better. This year, we are venturing into a major expansion program, with a three storey building to house our growing school. This is only a small fundraiser, but every little bit helps.
We are raffling off a gift certificate for Woolworths worth R 700. It can be used in any Woolworths store, for any Woolworths purchases. I believe that this is a very desirable first prize. As a second prize we have a new large office chair that swivels, perfect for studies or for all desk work, valued at R 1,000. The third prize is a feather duvet, valued at R 400. The raffle will be drawn on Sunday April 17.
Tickets are being sold for R5 each, or five for R 20. Each student is expected to sell at least five tickets. However, we hope that many students will sell many more. We will keep an exact count of how many tickets each student sells. The best seller will receive as a prize a ball of his or her choosing (e.g. soccer ball, football, volleyball). The class that sells the most tickets will receive a pizza party.
Children are asked to contact their parents, relatives, neighbors, friends, or anybody who walks by to sell tickets to them. They can show this letter to identify their efforts as a true fundraiser for their school. As they run out of tickets, they can return them to the school office and obtain more blanks. On each ticket must be completed the name, address and telephone numbers of the person purchasing the tickets, so that we can easily contact the winners.
You may get the raffle tickets from here.
May God bless your efforts.
Yours faithfully in Christ Our Lord,
Father Peter R. Scott Principal
